where in the world is Teresa Young?

these days I feel like a pinball. I’ve meant to come back to this space so many times. first I didn’t have the right computer and passwords with me, and then I just haven’t had a lot of time, but I also haven’t really been using my DSLR very much since late May.

on May 29, I flew off to Ohio to live in a hotel for a month while attending flight attendant training. it was intense, but I was with a great group and our instructors were wonderful. it was something that I’d wanted for a while but didn’t know if it was really a possibility for me.

yet here we are. I bounced back and forth between North Carolina and Wisconsin for a couple months while packing up my life and selling my house, and now I’m mostly settled in the greater Charlotte area, though 90% of my belongings are still back in Door County. I’m trying to live that minimalist life until I’m in a better living space (but I really miss my books and my artwork and my vintage Pyrex and my KitchenAid).

crew scheduling is still using me a lot, which I guess is weird for someone who has been on reserve for five months, but I love it. I’m out for up to six days at a time somewhere between Florida, South Dakota, and Ontario (or literally just sitting at CLT for eight hours). this year I’ve been able to explore cities in ten new states, but those sweet flight benefits mean that I’ll be seeing more soon. if you’re wondering, Tallahassee is one of my favorite overnights so far, but I also made great memories in Chattanooga, Cedar Rapids, and South Bend. I look forward to finding out what the next adventures will be.

it’s weird working with different crews all the time, sometimes I have a new crew every day, but for the most part the people have been wonderful. they really become your family for those maybe four days that you’re with them. Thanksgiving was my first holiday away from my family, but I got to enjoy a mediocre turkey dinner with another flight attendant in Birmingham, Alabama (and they didn’t serve us dessert, which was rather disappointing).

another incredible thing about this job is the office view. I love looking at the sky, and the sunrises and sunsets are even more magnificent in the air (especially when you’re in the flight deck because one of the pilots had to use the lav).

so if you need me, just leave a message and I’ll get back to you sometime. because I don’t know what day it is, where I am, or how I got that bruise. however, I do know that the scar on my left knee is from the air stairs even though my tights didn’t rip.
