I knew that I was getting really close to being next in line to borrow I'll Be Gone in the Dark from the library, so I had to add a couple lighter reads to my hold list too. well, I returned the Nordic book because it was longer than I thought, and then I just dove right into I'll Be Gone in the Dark after Eleanor & Park. #murderino

dear anyone who thinks that my current love for true crime,
it's a form of protection in some weird sense to know about these terrible people and terrible crimes. it's also a fascination of how these people were able to get away with it (and for so long)! additionally, if you think that I will be going off to commit crimes, please remember that I work in a licensed child care setting, so my fingerprints are on file with the state of Wisconsin.
ssdgm,
a weird murderino

I ordered myself my first pair of Vans as a reward for surviving SBSF2018 and two dental appointments. I sometimes forget when I order things online, and I also ended up buying another pair of Converse at TJ Maxx in between ordering these and them arriving.

I can't tell if Target just put the stripes on here really weird (probably) or if they purposely made some of them look like piano keys from a couple angles.

we took the kids to my favorite field trip of the summer - the USCG Canal Station in Sturgeon Bay. I think it's so special that they allow us to come visit for a tour. I think this was our seventh annual trip (last year we switched to July instead of the usual visit near/on my birthday), and we've had a slightly different experience every time. the Coastguardsmen (we've had women too, but I think that that's still the proper term) and Moose the dog have always been so wonderful. anyway, this lighthouse is on public property, but seeing it always makes me think of these great summer trips.
